The coin is just in the holder it came in, the top is off and nothing is over it.
Edit- your entitled to your opinion. But I think the first picture shows a much stronger strike especially on the lapel. And there are many other 64 SMS examples to compare.( Can you do a side by side of the coin in the link I sent?) Some are even red-brown. Though whether or not this is or isn't- I still think it's a red example.

The second photo looks more like a proof, with some cloudiness. I think perhaps what you have here are proof coins that someone put in an SMS case. Remember that the real 1964 SMS coins were special test coins made by the mint, that didn't surface for many years, and weren't in any type of packaging. Only a handful exist.

Fenton, I was just about to say. It's a nice looking coin but I assure you it is not proof but that last pic sure does almost look like it. But ya, is it possible to do a side by side with coin from the link in my second post?

Yup second photo is a bit too washed out for me to really highlight the dings but there is one on the right field that I hadn't seen on the original photo.

I'm trying to show all the die polish marks on it but I am far from being able to take decent enough pics apparently. As said earlier- pics and in hand are two much different things. For better or worse here: So, whether or not it is or isn't SMS- I still believe it's worth investigating- super long shot or not.

Fenton- not a side by side of my second image. There's a link in my second post of this thread. It's a 66 graded SMS from Great Collections. I'm looking for a side by side of the front and back of that coin with the images of my coin. If you could.

OK I think this is what you wanted. Great Collections SMS on left, your coin on the right.

So a few differences that jump out are in the SMS coin there is more offset between "United States of America" and "One Cent" and the rim. On the SMS coin, the rims are sharp and consistently square all the way around the perimeter. SMS coin has sharper strike throughout particularly on the steps. SMS coin also has more separation between rims and devices on the obverse, square rims all around the perimeter. Some of the die polishing looks similar but they don't really match up. And the SMS coin has that unique satiny finish.

Perfect, that's just what I wanted to see. Very much appreciated. The polish marks are different on all the coins other than half dollar. Strange right? You would figure with all the coins in each denomination, besides the half which was, would be struck with the same die par because there's so few coins and there "experimental". But I've looked at literally dozens of images from Heritage, Great Collections, PCGS and that appears not to be the case. Only the half I can say that for sure, (other than the one Kennedy that does not have the teardrop 4 which is weird in itself).
As far as the steps- again due to the images-they dont show how complete they really are. They are exactly like the GC one. And the coins rim really is square on this example. My images really just do no justice. But thanks again Fenton for helping me out and all the information, as well as your opinion. I'm sure many people will not agree but I certainly think it is worthy of at least finding an expert to look at these in hand or perhaps to send in to see what they say.
