I am appalled to think that anyone would mess with a coin I paid them good money to have them alter it.
Unless it was a restoration service and I knew it in the first place that I was asking for an improvement of a problem coin.... No way!
The original images of your nice toned dime show quite a change down there at the rim by the motto.
Especially there below the
E in "we" and
T in "trust". It almost looks to me like something was built up there on the rim and now when it is the slab it looks as if that situation there has changed and disappeared.
I have never sent a coin to be graded, I will buy a slabbed coin, but both my brother and father have, and they both claim they got back a lesser switched coin. Of those involved were one of the 1932 mintmarked quarters and either the 1885 or 1886
V nickels. That was enough for me to stay away from sending coins out.
I might take a chance and stand in line at a large coin show sometime and get one slabbed on the spot if the chance comes up. I do have a good number I'd love to have slabbed.
