At the bank I work at ive only found 2 40% 1974 s silver ikes, and a 1922 p Peace dollar, although I have seen other tellers find one or two extremely worn morgans. Overall id say only a half a dozen silver dollars come in to the bank in any given year. Try ordering bags of Ikes occasionally silver dollars get mixed in, although getting a bank to place an order for them can be difficult unless you know the management very well.

I am jealous of your banks. I hate Washinton Mutual. At the branch close to where I work the tellers are all fair weather coin collectors and NONE of the cool coins that come through make it to us customers.

I need to find a new bank.

I hoard all the ones that come in at the bank I work at, I must have over 500 by now. Of the regular business strikes I'm just missing the 73's.-XoG

I asked for some big ole dollars at the bank today, and showed the teller a Morgan that I carry around, she said yes they have some, but they are old.
I told her "thats fine".
She sais how many do you want, I said....all of them.

She walked off and had a brief conversation with another lady, and then came back and said that they had placed them in the automated coin counter, and did not have access to them right now.
mmmm...mmm...mmmm
too bad!

I thought I would try my luck again today and look for more "big" dollars. The teller said no they didn't have any. However I noticed something strange in the quarter tray across the bank. When I asked what it was the teller said some old tarnished quarters. She even picked out four of the "tarnished quarters for me". I walked out with a 1942, 1954, 1955 and 1957 silver quarter.

I guess I got my dollar...just divided in four!

I went to a capital one looking for silver half dollars. The teller gave me the half dollars she had but took the silver one's out. Then she gave me four big dollars. Guess what, one of those was a 1922 Peace dollar and the rest were Ike's. Needless to say, I was excited!

Yes it is. I was walking back to my car thinking, I wish I could have gotten those silver halves, and then I look through what I thought were 4 Ike's and get a Peace dollar!

I've been roll hunting for a little over a year and I don't always ask for large dollars, in that time I've found 2 SAE, 2 silver ike and a 1926 peace. that's along with over $500 dollars face in 90% halves, $20 face in quarters, $30 in dimes and over $1140 face in 40% halves. And I live in an area with at least 5 other hunters

My wife works in a bank and frequently calls me at work to ask if a 1946 Roosevelt dime or a 1969 Kennedy half or a 1936 Buffalo nickel is worth anything. Sometimes she calls me with a better item and I get all excited only to find that some other teller snarfed it up and just wanted my wife to find out if it's worth anything. The best thing she ever got was two rolls of Mercury dimes. Unfortunately, most were from the '40s and all were seriously circulated. Nothing too exciting. I have a 1935-P Walker right next to my computer that she found last week. Probably goes at least VF.
