I've looked all over this coin and there is doubling on the date, but no where else. DDO? Or is it MD? With MD you normally see it on multiple devices, don't you? Thanks for your help.
Can I have further help on this coin? I do not believe the doubled numbering on the date is due to "reflective lighting." I am only using one light source for the photos. For lighting, I am using no light other than what is emanating from my Plugable Microscope. I am providing additional magnification photos (see below) of the date, again with nothing other than light from the Plugable (the rest of the room is dark). The doubling of 1983 is undeniable. So, why is there doubling on the date of this penny? If this is not DDO then what is the explanation? Thanks!
I'm not seeing any doubling at all. Directly down the center of the date, there is a dark line. This highest point is absorbing light. On either side of this, there is the reflection from whatever light source is being used, along the curve of the devices. There is no added thickness to this date. Sorry, not a DDO
