I would ask the resident pro's why the incused markings on the reverse right wing and the "incused" I from in on the obverse at the neck are not even mentioned in the VAM #? In this case the die rotated slightly between clashing a 2nd time leaving two clash lines. Single, double, tripled clashes are very common and mainly used only as a die marker. Single neck line clash going up to n. I think your mistaking the remnants of the left wing clash for an I. Here's a picture of the left wing clash and the top of the n from In below the clash. Morgans Dad Pillar of the Community United States 5643 Posts	Posted 11/29/2008 1:04 pm So if I am taking this all in , the neck line clash is a "die marker' for this die.Also the top of the "n" from in, I have never quite made this out, or visually seen this to know what this means.If I am interpeting this correct, you mean the letter"n" can be seen below the obv neck line clash?, I have read about this and I think all I have read is referring to the letter "n" and I have not been able to see this.If this is what I believe this to mean.I see in the photos you have , there are marks below the neck clash, however I do not see a letter n.I thank-you for your time and advice, please do not give up , I am very much interested in this subject and your help is greatly appreciated, Mike Report this Post to the Staff

The transferred letter is what changes the Vam#. Very seldom will you see the complete letter. The arched line next to the neck is a partial n. This is an 1884 8B.
