SPP-Ottawa Moderator Canada 10464 Posts	Posted 10/09/2020 11:51 pm Definitely a 1937 Mirror specimen strike, but I wonder if the toning prevented a DCAM designation (mostly from the reverse). I would say SP-66 CAM at the bare minimum, perhaps even SP-67... thedollarman Pillar of the Community Canada 4911 Posts	Posted 10/11/2020 4:46 pm Good guesses Johnny and SPP..the coin definitely has a strong cameo contrast..but PCGS didn't attribute it as a CAM or DCAM... ICCS did however call it Heavy Cameo. I assume PCGS didn't call it CAM due to the toning and intense die polish affecting the contrast of the cameo. It also appears that PCGS is not as comfortable in general when it comes to giving out the CAM designation to KGVI coins. It is hard to get a picture to show the cameo and toning at the same time with the slab in the way. The obverse has a stronger cameo than the reverse by far. The coin is graded at SP-67, it originated in an ICCS SP-65 with the cert dating back to about 1990. I then cut it out and sent it back in where it graded SP-66 Heavy Cameo. Scott Cornwall said the coin would be SP-67 quality if it weren't for a couple hairlines that blend into the die polish, but I'm of the opinion that what he saw was in fact die polish and not hairlines. This piece came with an entire set from a Bell auction a couple years back, all the coins in the set were among the very first strikes, with the entire set possessing a heavy cameo finish aside from the nickel. I have since sold off the nickel and dollar..which I now regret but at the time it helped fund some very special coins such as the SP-67 1946 half dollar I posted a while back, so I'm not too upset about it!
