Quote:I was planning on flipping the AGE, but now I am debating whether to keep it for my young kids since it could be worth more in the future on as a super low mintage coin. I got a coin dealer offer of $6500 but he is saying the price is constantly changing. I see sold sales on ebay of $8-10K. I do not want to sell it on ebay due to the amount and risk there, so looking for local dealers to sell to. I might sit on it and see what prices do. I know people aren't a fan of it for one reason or another, but if you are considering keeping it for future value to your kids, I would at least "consider" grading it. If it grades 70, the coin easily goes $10k+ and will do a better job holding its value over OGP. Worst case scenario, if it grades under, you're out the grading fee, but you can always pop it out of the holder and put it back in the mint capsule. If you just want to sell it and take the profit, flip it as is. My personal unsolicited opinion (take it for what it's worth), best time for OGP may be the holidays. I agree though with this type of coin I would avoid ebay like the plague. If a buyer tries to raise an issue and they paid by Paypal, best case scenario you're out the fee you paid with Paypal (they no longer refund it). Just find a dealer or a reputable buyer and collect the cash. My 2 cents for what it's worth.

Just got my shipping notice as well. Was a bit surprised since it took me 31 min to complete the purchase.

I logged into USMint website to check my tracking number, and it immediately rate limited / banned my IP. This better not be the norm now. I can't access anything related to my order history at all. I guess I "logged in too quickly" or something. How long are these IP bans? [It allowed me in after 1 hour.]

Hi Eagle4Life, would love to hear what you end up doing with your gold proof. I also get an AGE from the release, and I'm speculating value will increase past the $10k it's going for on ebay right now. Will you be grading yours?

I logged in this morning. Once again everything was fine until it changed to add to bag. I was immediately rate limited. After that, I couldn't get back to the page with this ASE on it. Interestingly, I could get to the pages of any of the other product offerings other than this AGE. After it went unavailable again, I did figure out that the rate limiting is an IP address issue. I took my phone off Wifi and was able to get to this ASE's page. It would be hard for the mint to screw this up more than they have. I wonder if any of the people on the citizens advisory committee ever try to order a limited release product. Does anyone know if in situations like this coins are made typically made available on Sunday morning? Or, is it strictly a Monday through Saturday thing. I don't want to get up early if there's no point to it.

I got a gold in my cart this morning, but it sold out when I tried to remove a silver that was somehow added as well.

I had my phone off Wifi from the get go and never got passed the add to cart stage so it may just have been getting in at the right time. Though at this point I think trying anything you think may help is worth a shot.

My lessons learned. 1. Don't place an order with your cell phone. Use the fastest and most reliable internet connection possible. 2. Prior to sale, ensure your account is current (contact and payment information). 3. Prior to the sale, memorize your user name and password. 4. Prior to the sale, log in to the US Mint website with your account credentials. 5. Prior to the sale, add and remove items to your bag. Take steps to enter the checkout page with items in your bag. Go as far as possible before actually placing the order (or place an order). 6. Minutes before the sale, be on the US Mint website and sit on the item's webpage. As soon as the start time has begun, do a page refresh and add the item to your bag and proceed to checkout. I failed at number 1, 2, 3, and 4. Number 5 is to ensure your IP address is known by the US Mint. However, I was successful in number 6. My password and payment information was not current. After two attempts at checkout, the item was sold out. I did a screen shot of my phone on the second attempt to checkout. If I was prepared (sitting in my home office and not on the side of the road), my account and payment information updated/current, I would have been successful in purchasing one.

Pretty sure 99% here have done all that and still encountered site issues. Sometimes you just gotta give it up to good ol plain luck.

I found out that it was easier to open the next step to the checkout process in a new tab. So add to cart, then click checkout to open in a new tab. That way if you ever got kicked out you can retry to open the link in a few tabs and maybe one of them would correctly. Then the other issue was that you would complete the purchase and it would timeout and go back to the beginning of the checkout. I found out the best way to push thru this issue would be to have 4 tabs going thru the checkout process and keep them processing until one finally pushes thru and you get a confirmation.
Not sure if its the best way but I was able to get one for myself and for a family member as well.

So same time again Monday gents for the silver medal/gold coin?
ETA: Looks like one of my coins was marked shipped this morning with a tracking number. Probably won't go out until Monday since USPS has no record of it in their possession, but it now has a tracking number. Still waiting on the other one.

I've been watching ebay prices though. Curious why you think it will go past $10K? I have never graded anything myself, just bought stuff already graded, so probably not. Is there a downside to keeping stuff in Mint capsules?

Well, will keeping it in the original packaging prevent moisture from getting in? I want to make sure the condition is pristine
