Today's picture is not actually an American Silver Eagle, but it is something that every one that collects silver eagles should own.

Not only does the book cover the actual coins themselves, it covers the history of the
ASE, one very interesting topic (among many) was how the
ASE ended up reusing
Adolph Weinman's classic Walking Liberty from the 1916 to 1947 50 cent piece. The reason wasn't that there weren't many gifted sculptors, it was because of the 1986 Olympics. The commemorative coins for the olympics weren't well received (and if you look at them, you'll know why), and as the Mint Director (Donna Pope) was more interested in creating a non controversial coin rather than an artistic expression, the choice of Weiman's and Augustus Saint-Gaudens' liberty was predetermined. In my opinion, a very good decision.
See why you need to get the book. but while you can buy one at
Amazon:

I have a few fellow collectors that I email on a regular basis. Not only do we talk coin topics we also talk about family and life outside the
Coin World. One of the fellow collectors asked me for my help in photoshopping a few of his pictures, which I did because he needed my help. I never expect anything in return, friends do favors for friends.
In return he knows I collect
ASE and he knows the author (Joshua McMorrow-Hernandez) from FUN. He asked Josh to autograph my copy.

So my copy is extra special.
