Hello,everyone!
Found this coin few days ago, realy happy about that.No FG and floating roof, but I don't see any double die or anything similar.

Seriously it's worth more than a cent. Heck it has more than a cents worth of copper...

I'm a dealer, so here is my experiance

I put those in 2x2s and sell them for a about one dollar. If they are red and unc then $5 to $7. They may be somewhat common in the aggregate, but to casual collectors they are very difficult to find.

Remember that in 1909, in the City of San Francisco, 08S and 09S Indians, as well as 09S LWC were "common". In fact let me expand on that. Growing up in San Francisco in the 60s it was the norm to find "S" minted cents. Finding "D" or "P" cents were a pain.

In fact one sure way to tell a contemporay collection of Lincolns in a Whitman folder is that the "S" mints will always grade higher than the others. In fact my Great Grandfather had a collection and his 09S' were in Unc/Au. While he had several hundred 09S' he only had about a dozen 14Ds and most them were in the VF range.

While your cent will never be worth what a key will bring. Rarity is relative.

Good hunting!

Just a die event. I'd rather not have the thought in the back of my mind that I cashed in on something common, when I know it is common. But to each his own.

Yes, it is. If you are able to get a buck for these, more power to you. And if you are paying out copper value for all other cents, where do I send mine?

Put it into perspective Coop. A candy bar around here is about $1.50. Maybe a dollar on sale. You go to a machine to buy a pop and it's $2.50. A bag of chips in the machine is about a dollar.

So; you read about the floating roof, you want a floating room and you take your $5 and buy one for a buck, then use your change to buy a Pop and a bag of chips.

The $5 to $7 for a red unc is...well...about a buck more than I would charge for a 69D red/unc. Mind you, I don't put thumbprinted, baggy or heavily carbon spotted coins in my cases. And..yes I do have "young collectors discount".

As for copper prices I pay 2 cents for LWC and I wholesale them for 3 cents to one of the big boys.
