wmmayer New Member United States 1 Posts	Posted 11/27/2020 3:12 pm I have a copper coin. Dated either 1796 or 1706. It is in rather poor condition, though much of the design is clear. It was listed as a colonial, usa coin, but I don't believe it is. The obverse has a man riding a horse, with some kind of serpent under it. There is some type of lettering on it, but I can not read it. The reverse shows a sailing ship, again with some kind of serpent under it. It seems this design is out of date with the date on the coin. Does anyone have any ideas? Report this Post to the Staff

Second, that looks like St. George thrusting at the serpent and then a Man-of-War and salmon on the reverse. To me, it looks a lot like a Conder Half Penny Token from the UK. I don't know the extent to which these might have circulated in the British Colonies, but clearly it got plenty of use somewhere.
