Newest acquisition for this set. Picked this up on GC a week ago, just came in.

I don't want to spoil the party, but is that a scratch "X" at the right ear position on the obverse? Or is it on the slab?

@NumisEd, no, the larger "mark" is just part of the hair detail, the other is a planchet mark, less noticeable in hand.

Beautiful set! No question in my mind, the Buffalos are the nicest nickels ever! That whole era had the best designs ever for the Mercs, Walkers, SLQ's. Too bad the Indian cents didn't continue along with them. I'll bet that 26s is going to be elusive.

Thanks MisterT!

I've already picked up the 26-S (page 3), very happy with that one.

It's Bison, Not Buffalo.

Quote:
Though the terms are often used interchangeably, buffalo and bison are distinct animals. Old World "true" buffalo (Cape buffalo and water buffalo) are native to Africa and Asia. Bison are found in North America and Europe.

Cents, not pennies. Five cents, not nickels. Indigenous people, not Indians. Pop, not "Coke."
