I saved up some money and looking through ebay in search of suitable coins, I came across several options for adding to my collection. My main topics for collecting coins are the sets " Basic Set of US Coin Design Without Gold (1792-present)" and " Date of the Barber dime Coin Set, Strikes on Circulation (1892-1916)". I found a 10 cent 1895-O coin that is suitable for my Barber set, I also became interested in gold coins and thought about buying another one, since gold is getting more and more expensive and this is a great investment. But also for a basic set of American coins, I lack quite a lot of coins, for example, I started thinking about buying a Trading Dollar, but unfortunately it is not available on ebay now. From all this, I have several options 1)buy one of the gold coins 2) buy 10 cents 1895-On 3) Keep looking for a Trading Dollar and hope for the best 4)Miss out on gold and 10 cents and wait for the best. Dear colleagues, what would you recommend ?

Slerk, You described a problem all of us have. Only you can make the right decision. I have a list of coins and currency that I want. For example on my list: 1909 S VBD in AU+ Seated Liberty dollarFlowing Hair Large Cent The missing IHC from my slabbed collection The 2 set ASE being released on 9/13 A $1 Educational Note Plus a few others. Since I can't afford all of them I am going for the one that I know will shoot up in price after release (the 2 set ASE on 9/13). The others will just wait which means I'll miss out on 1 deal but may find another. Pick the coin you want the most. I personally would not have gold shipped to me in Russia. Just my 2 cents.

The problem is also in the search for coins. On ebay, very few sellers offer international delivery. Anyway, thanks for the advice, I'll think about it. I am afraid to be left with nothing and eventually miss out on possibly acquiring at least something necessary for myself. Although as my father says, "if in doubt, don't do it"

Sounds like you're doing a type set. I've got one about 98% done. Mine is a US 1793 through 1964 (I stopped at the last 90% silver coin that is a business strike).
My criteria is: -- the best I can afford; nothing grading less than Fine (I have one exception) -- no DETAILS coins (I have one exception)
If I'm correct about your goal I suggest you look at the NGC Registry Type Set. To me it is the most complete.
Once you set your coverage and standards it should be easier to decide what to get and how good it should be.
Since one of the coins you are looking at is the 1895-O dime it also appears you are also looking at keys or semi-keys.

I started my collection of American coins by collecting Barber dime and sometimes bought some interesting US coins for myself( such as 2 cents, 3 cents,, big cent, Lincoln Cent, 5 cents V, etc.) a little later I thought that it would be nice to collect a full set of "Basic US coins" @kanga, I use PCGS register. I do not have strict criteria for coins by condition, the main thing for me is to have the copy I need in the collection, even if it is G, AG or even FR, the only thing is that the details are not very welcome, but I am ready to make concessions.

My advice is stay away from ebay. Better to find a local coin show.

I don't think you have to stay away from ebay completely. But be aware that there are a lot of people trying to deceive people on ebay. Even slabbed coins are faked.

I'm a fan of Barber dimes so I would pick the 1895-O if it is a good opportunity to get one. However, 1895-O is heavily counterfeited and I would be very wary of a raw coin. Even a slabbed coin could be in a fake holder. Can you post images of it?

Quote: Can you post images of it? . I did not share the photos I will only say that the coin is certified by PCGS.
