1936 D/D Buffalo Nickel - RPM-002, FS-502

Not my specialty but spotted this cherrypick while looking at some random coins one evening. Arrived in the mail today.

Based on Wexler's die stages, I'd put it as stage A as the entire secondary mint mark is visible, and quite crisp. Looks even better in-hand than in the photos.

Totally unsure if there is master die doubling for this year, but certainly there is doubling on the top of UNI of UNITED.

That's a beauty! Strong variety. Been trying to cherry a 1938-D/S in a slab for a while but most have Been noticed already.

Thanks folks! I only have a few Buffalo varieties as I don't really look at them much. Bust for a random find I quite like this one.

Sure, $152.25 shipped. Certainly wouldn't enjoy paying that much for a regular old nickel, but I think I did okay on this one. Even with having to send it in to get the variety listed on the label I'll have less than $200 in it, a fair shake less than these things go for at auction. Might shoot for CAC with this one as well as it's a pretty nice coin.
