Today a teller at the bank I work at gave me what appears to be an unplated 2006 cent. I know theres a ton of fake unplateds out there so how do I know if I have the real thing or not. Ill try to post a scan as soon as I can.

Here's a cent I found with confirmed partial plating (I recall Mike Diamond thought so)

It also looks like a partial plating error to me:-)on the 1986 D. We need pics of the 2006:-)

... I remember doing this to my pennies.

I would place a shiny new penny on top of my light bulb, and basically after my studying, it would turn white.

i tried the magnet already it was a no go, first thing I thought of since it was given to me along with a few steel cents

Looks like a home made plate job. I would guess its not authentic
