I NEED YOUR HELP!

I finally did my homework and tried my best to look for "thickness," "separation lines," and splits in serifs while I was coin roll hunting.

On this 1983P LMP, I think I see notching bottom right on both of the R's in LIBERTY and TRUST, but that's about all I see on the obverse!

As for the reverse, I see "canals" on the left sides of UNITED and extra thickness across STATES OF AMERICA with a split serif of R.

There also was MD and a little thickness on ONE CENT.

Because of the amount of die scratches on both sides, its hard to determine what this is!

Let me know what you think! I appreciate your input!

Here is a normal cent:

Do not open this image on a cell phone as it will take a long time to download.
When comparing your coin to this one, you will see the devices are the same size. So your coin came from a normal die. I see no evidence of hub doubling. (doubled die)
The last 'T' on trust is showing split plating. Everything else looks normal from what I can see.

Thank you @John1 and @coop !!

Is there a chance that either of you can give me insight on spotting notching, split serifs, separation lines, etc. (I have seen the extensive explanations that you have given to others with similar coins), but could you show me some circulated examples of those attributes? Especially as a coin rolling novice, I run into die wear, Die Deterioration, ejection doubling, and obviously MD which can have me drooling for the possibility for doubled die. Do you have any advice for a noobie like me?

If you spend some time on error-ref.com, varietyvista.com, and coppercoins.com, you will find a treasure trove of pictures such as what you are asking for.

I am right there with you NotoriousABE...ty for the references! It is very hard to confirm markers with older coins..die scratches and gouges do not show up due to the wear.
