Sorry if the photos are a little blurry. My first time to try and post pics. I know very little about currency, but this bill was passed down to me. It is quite worn, and 3 corners are torn, but has a red seal, and a star preceeds the serial number. The "series" is 1953 A. pictures don't show  But I can tell you a Series 1953 with 3 torn corners is pretty much worth face. But you said it's a star note... so that could bring up the price more, but torn corners (even just 1) really drop the value. |

Thanks, Magman. That's pretty much what I figured. A shame it isn't in better condition. And I still haven't figured out why I can't download photos. I've tried to follow all the steps correctly, but obviously I must be doing something wrong.

you can try and upload the pictures to Photobucket, or Imageshack, and copy and paste the forum code :) -- that should do the trick.

That's a shame it has the torn corners, and the crease. Otherwise, it's a nice looking note. Looks like a dog ate the corners :)

Apparently, back when $2 were less rarely encountered than today, there was a superstition that receiving a $2 note in change was unlucky. To break the bad luck, you had to tear the corners off it. Some star notes command huge premiums in certain series but unfortunately, 1953A is not one of them  Paper Money Values(12/08) lists it in VG @$8 but of course that is for an example with all corners  |
