At first you can only see the 7 but once you see the 2 you can't un-see it. It's curved at the top and has the tail of a large date. What #271;o you think?
Sorry, There is no such animal as a 1917 over 1912. The 1912 dies would have been destroyed long before 1917. Also 1909 was the last last year for an overdate in the US The term we use on here is Pareidolia, thinking you see something that isn't there.
Looks like a 1917 to me. What you're suggesting is basically impossible. Would require a struck coin to somehow end up in the striking chamber and for the strike to overlap the original with no rotation.
