They are using good old soap 'n water before burnishing the blanks.

Another downer for proof cameo, is that some of the very sharp design detail is lost in order to produce the cameo effect.
That is why I prefer a perfectly struck business strike in MS-70. Amongst other things, they are much rarer than PF-70 coins.

Interesting to see how the rimming is achieved.
Thomas Simon, with his Petition Crowns, in a similar process, used parallel lettered bars to roll his petition statement onto the edge of the coin.

My thoughts, too. Thinking this is where we get our milk spots - incomplete rinsing and drying.
