I am not sure where I got this and I had this for a few years. Perhaps this is a German states piece, or it could be a type of spielmark (play-money)? It reads Wer Wagt Gewinnt (Who Dares Wins) around a wreath and a cross, and the other side reads Rechen Pfennig around an anchor (so possibly a coastal issue?). A bonus is this has a small rim clip.

There are two similar pieces on Numista, but I don't know if they'll help. The first even has similar clips:

Definitely a spiel mark. The text "Wer wagt gewinnen" can be translated as "Who takes chances wins". A "rechenpfennig" seems to translate to "counting penny" or a "counter". So yes, a game counter or token.

Yeah, I was leaning more towards a spielmark from the 1800s period. Good links spruett001; makes me wonder if mine could be an earlier version of those other 2 from numista (which I use somewhat often for other items). Thanks David, I researched this some years ago and found partial information on it. My personal guess onto age would be from the mid-1800s circa 1850-1865 period.
