I am new and I have studied the DDO's vs MD's. I know to go to Variety Vista, PCGS. I google, google, google and read until my eyes slant. (lolololol) but seriously I still cannot just know when I see it what exactly I am looking at. Please experts I need you on this one because even though there is exactly 0 known 1984-D Kennedy's with this error, everything I thought I had learned says this is a DDO. I would bet my 1877 Indian penny that it is. (If it is MD, I am kidding about betting my precious) HELP!

Kwang, the one thing I notice is your coin has glare doubling, which is a lighting problem. Try using a piece of white paper over your light source or use daylight. I am not seeing a DDO on your half. If you use the search box in the upper left of every page here on CCF, you'll find a few very excellent threads on DDO's vs Machine Doubling. Look for posts made by "coop" our resident expert in the subject. Also, we always need to see the entire coin, both sides please. to the CCF, Kwang! p.s.- excellent photography btw!

Thank you Marclover. All of you that reply always help me qlot to learn. Yes, my equipment is very basic and I am trying to use a microscope to that doesn't extend far enough up to get the entire coin. I have to take 100 just to get 1 clear one while holding it with 1 arm. I do not deserve better equipment though as my collectors skills are very basic themselves. When I level up my skills, I will upgrade my equipment.

Kwang, have you considered trying to get photos using your phone's built in camera? Many people here do use only that, so you see fancy photo equipment isn't always needed. Many times you can even zoom in 5 or 6X or even more. Also, please do check out coop's postings in the search box as I suggested, I think you'll find them extremely informative! Ifyouneed help or have other questions, we are here to help!

Kwang, if you can place your microscope atop an 8" tall box and turn the base around so that the scope hangs over the box edge, you should be able to get full size photos of even large dollars and Silver Eagles.

Merclover, thank you, my phone is a cheap prepaid. You have been very helpful. Mister T , thank you, I will try your suggestion. John1, boookmarked, reading and rereading. So we are all in agreement that unfortunately I still can't see a true DDO yet from MD and this is not one?

I think I see some split serifs, but it could be a reflection. Can't wait until you post up a few better pictures here.
