Notching in the stars under STATES is pretty easy to see as well.

Thanks Earle42 and atrox001 ....In hand the R and U looks like the photo above but the S on this one has notching on both serif's...and both T's have notching. I will check again for any die markers listed when I get home but I dont think I was able to see it when I was checking the different listed DDR's. Thanks for looking!

I will answer because I relax my exponent. you state SMS, OK with this , but you do the light test? The SMS it is the precursor of the proof and cameo. Must give round light move look the height strike always show with height forms

What you show me it is a select set of uncirculated coins, not the SMS. 1968 SMS was only in slabs. The mint denomination for S. S on those envelopes do not mean SMS. It is far from SMS.
To understand more: The SMS has a dully apparent flat back which when we bros around the light will high light the high relief. This is it is the SMS. Was only max 600 sets, which was not confirm yet. Never the SMS sets leave for the public.
what it sell on deferent channels, are not legitimate.

@silviosi....Far as I know this is what the set was called in 1965 since they did not issue a mint or proof set, only a Special Mint Set (SMS) with a better finish than a regular mint strike but not as good as a what a proof strike would be. Check out this 1965 50C SMS on PCGS CoinFacts https://www.PCGS.com/coinfacts/coin/detail/6845
