Hello all and good day! Been at it again trying to look for my first somewhat-uncommon mint error.

Attached are pictures of the P which looks odd and which is why I took pictures of it. It looks like the P was stamped again. What do yall think? or are my eyes just deceiving me?

It is a P that took a hit.

I think it's either a damaged D, or a die chipped or filled D.
I'm not aware of any RPMs for Philly Quarters in that decade, there are Denvers though.

Also this is the wrong MM style "P" for the date, it should be MMS-002 and looks nothing like it.

they phase out handpunching mintmarks on dies completely by 1991, Philly was already adding them to their master dies long before the other mints.

DDD to the lower SE side of the mintmark. Took a few hits to the upper NW areas. Not a RPM.

Got it. Thank you for your educated analysis and explanations. I'm certainly learning new terms and definitions as there is soo much to know.
