Current wholesale "buy" price for pre-1960 (non-silver) nickels is 7 cents each. It is not economical to ship them off until you have a few thousand of them.

You can find a better example in circulation. Worth 5 cents in my eyes.

I was not aware there was a wholesale price for Jefferson nickels. I'll have to keep that in mind. Bulk jeffersons don't have a lot of demand in general, because there aren't any super valuable coins. As opposed to bulk wheat cents, because people are always trying to find an S VDB and popular varieties. Maybe the jefferson market will boom one day...

To CCF , because of the worn condition of your coin I agree only worth 10-20¢ retail.

I'm sure some new ones are wondering what a type 1 and type 2 look like:

They were struck during war time with different designs and different planchets. The war time nickels have the mintmark over the building.

They contain some silver. The type ones are just the normal copper/nickel. Basically this coin is so worn, I would not think any premium for this one. The weights will be 5 grams on both. But the silver ones are the melt coins. (Type 2)
