1952 5 Cent.front Double Struck With Voyageur?

Rfrancis3 New Member United States 4 Posts	Posted 10/05/2022 11:48 am Hello fine people. I have been holding on to this coin for a while, no definite idea whats going on with it. Perhaps someone may have an answer. It weighs 5.65g and it looks like there is an extra indentation running top to bottom on the front of the face. Half of the Voyageur dollar canoe maybe&, not really sure. Any ideas? Report this Post to the Staff

Check your scales, unless it is counterfeit, it is overweight, should be 4.54g. Report this Post to the Staff

Sap Moderator Australia 16876 Posts	Posted 10/06/2022 8:48 pm That coin should be made of chrome-plated steel. That coin clearly is not made of chrome-plated steel. It appears to be made of something much softer, like lead. It therefore must be a counterfeit. Presumably a circulating counterfeit, since no coin collector is going to be fooled by it and 1952 5 cent coins aren't all that rare to start with. Try rubbing the edge of the coin on a white sheet of paper, my bet is that it leaves a grey streak.
