I found this 1988 D LMC that might be RDV-006 as the FG looks exactly like one that I have that is a 1989. I need expert confirmation. Thanks so much for your help :)

That is the normal reverse for an 88, not what you are looking for.

That looks to me like RDV-005 and not RDV-006. 005 is the one you would expect for 1988 so nothing rare here.

This is what confuses me, I have a 1989 that looks nearly identical to this one. At first I thought that I might have a 1989 with an RDV-005 reverse.

Both have bad zincoln issues. That, in itself is an issue and makes it hard to make a call on it. In my opinion, the pics you have here, are labeled correctly for the reverse that is normal for each of them. I have come to the conclusion, after looking at several thousand of the 88's, if you have to look at it for more than 2 seconds, and question it, it is not the transitional variety you are looking for and I toss it.

I don't know that I would toss it just yet. If you wanted to, for a couple of bucks you can have it attributed. There might be something to this Cent. The M looks heavier than the M on the RDV-005. But the again it could be just the lighting from the pics. Interesting Cent.

If there is die wear on the strike, it is not a RDV-006. These were used for a short time and didn't get worn to look like that. If you check the AME on On America, you will see that these devices are rounded (RDV-005) and the RDV-006 show wider devices on that area. This area will answer the question for sure. Rounded devices, RDV-005.

Please no screen shots. They are too pixelated to be of use.
