Errors On $20 Liberty Double Eagle? (1904)

lib9995 New Member Australia 45 Posts	Posted 04/09/2023 02:30 am Hey CC! posted this in the wrong sub forum category before , hope this is the right one :) i am very curious to know a bit more about these 2 errors on this 1904 Double Eagle. Pic number 1 , on a small part on the rim, there is like little 'tracks'? looks like small serrations were struck into it? Pic number 2, hard to put into words ,but where the rim meets the edge , possibly part of a wire edge/rim? ive tried to take the best pics I can, would love to hear your opinions ! cheers everyone! * Edited by Staff to Add Year to Title. But cannot tell from the image. if it raised or lower than the top or the edge. Can you post up a better close up of this region? Collecting since 1972. Learning from then on "Tell me and I forget. My observation is that pic #1 is not a collar clash, it's a tiny amount of metal that squeezed past the collar during strike and retained the appearance of the reeding. The Rim Fin on the opposite side attests to the collar/die alignment issue during the strike. Report this Post to the Staff
