Do not fall for the trap!

That is exactly what it is. a marketing ploy to garner revenue for the grading companies and especially for the other Retailer Companies that are asking these grading companies to create these labels.

Right, it is just like chasing every single Eagle in OGP ever released. Like Gilly has and is doing. That would be the same - 'buying the package' and not the coin.
In Gilly's defense, I believe the OGP choices are comparatively more limited than TPG label options.

Oh, I'm not knocking on Gilly here (I did the same thing - almost, I just didn't go for all the mixed OGP sets too)
I just used him as an example because he went further than I did and found sets I never thought had existed.

@ Gilly (if you see this topic) Do you only collect ASE's or are you also collecting other types of coins too (cent, nickels, dimes , etc?)

I collect Many, Many Differing Coins, Currency, Medals, Etc.
It has taken me Off The Rails. Learn from a Ole Time Coin Collecting Enthusiast, Rare is Exactly what it says, Not Many, Few Known. Labels, IMO Have come down a path that provides for Select Seeking Collectors to obtain What they choose, as it Should be, I am Simply In disbelief over the Production, as it seems, that the Labels of Today are Only as Good as the Next Label to be produced. What Exactly is Special about the Labled Slab? I saw David had commented above, Something to the effect of " if a collector collected EVERY single Issued ASE, by the U S Mint or otherwise, would be a Completely Differing set,". If you will, the Red Book , Never mentions or Mentioned ANY other Collectible ASE'S.......My Newest Library Edition of John M. Mercanti's American Silver Eagles 4TH Edition states, The Set is Clearly Recognized in Every ASE Edition I have read or Seen.

The 1950's. 60's, As a Kid, Life was Much Simpler... Seeking Out a Rare 1955 Double Die Lincoln Cent Helped me Drive myself, To where I am Today......

PS, Collecting has a Special Effect, It takes differing Paths, For us All... Plant " SEEDS " to further the Hobby of Numismatics.................

A long time ago, I bought a Star Trek large laser disk that had a 'limited edition of 5000 (Mine is inscribed as "1025 of 5000" (or something close to that number Can't remember at the moment, and can't go look,

Well I'm home and 'had' to go see what number it was - It is 1028, (I was only off by 3 - not too bad considering my crappy memory.)
I had to get out of my closet and dust it off, I found my receipt that I had folded up and place it in the frame in the back. (how smart of me?) I bought this way back in 1992 For the 1991 25th Anniversary.
I even have several sets of the 25th anniv trading card sets all in perfect mint condition, and a full unopened case of the cards too.

If ANYBODY think that they have a 'Complete' set of Eagles, they are sorely mistaken.
The next collection is to chase down every special label? Not for me - check out this HUGE list

I asked Admiral Ackbar and Spock whether they thought to buy up all the label versions rather than just some special ones for speculation or collectible reasons, and answers seems to agree with commems and jbuck

Yup, a label trap in general. The designation, 1 of 2023, is what I view as, "lots available" of a population regarding "slabbed labels". I have a couple ASE's that have only a single, or 1 off, signed label variation. which might command a premium but, most likely not when it comes to ASE's, because at the heart of the ASE, it's still the same coin, slabbed with a one off "printed" label.

You aren't getting the first of 2,023 made, you are getting one of 2,023 made.

Yes I know that! Which is the purpose of this topic - just like my analogy of every player gets a trophy no matter how badly they lose.. everyone who get one of these gets to say that they have the 'first' one.
