Quote: Last night I watched a movie called Coin Heist on Netflix. The alternate quarters in that movie were made by Daniel Carr (details on this page, search for "heist") and you can occasionally find one on ebay, like this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/145845014352

So in the best TV show on the planet - Psych - there are many references to coins. However one very cool one was in the episode Romeo and Juliet and Juliet where they find a "counterfeit" 1978 50 cent HK piece "from the 1978 dynasty" lol:) The fact is that there is no way even in 78 that 50 cent coins were being forged in HK but its still very cool - the coin they show looks 100% legit. Another episode "in for a penny" features the 1943 Lincoln Cent -:) Also the TV show Warehouse 13 has a lot of different coins in various episodes but I like the "Janus coin" That coin was a copy of real coins but in the story it could be used to separate the memories of HG Wells from her (yes her) body so that she could be set free (because she had tried to blow up the world in the past) and believe she was a catlady (her cat was called Dickens) teacher. ... Having actually repeated the story it does sound quite strange;)

Also, Dr Who had LOADS of coins in it - I mean the original series mostly. They have actually been put in a link https://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?topic=7857.0But I think there are two things missing A) in "Remembrance of the Daleks" the Dr gives Ace a bag of money to buy food- the coins are for 1963 but Ace is from the 90s so she doesn't understand pounds, shillings, and pence... B) in the serial "Battlefield" the doctor has a bunch of coins (they mention it in the link) but he ALSO mentions a 2 pound coin. This is cool because at the time the show was made there was NO 2 pound coin (and this was set slightly in the future). Sorry for so many references but I loved seeing the coins in all these shows.

In a 1973 episode of the game show "The Price is Right", a contestant's potential prize package included an AMC Gremlin, a trip to Las Vegas with a weeks lodging and food for 2 at the Sahara, and "500 Silver Dollars". Unfortunately the scene of the show model dumping the coins into a bowl is short and from a distance, and the coins cannot be identified. Undoubtedly Ikes. The entire package had a value of $3400, and yes the contestant won. I wonder if they gave her the actual coins or a check, and what ever happened to that Gremlin.
