Good morning everyone. Today I ran to my local store to grab some items for breakfast, and this is what I got in the self checkout lane in my change. The question I have about this coin is with the mint mark. It looks thicker than the other S mint marks that I have seen. Anyways, it's a good looking coin so I'm gonna put it in a 2 x 2 and take it out of circulation. I also can't seem to get that spot on Washington's bust to go away. So far I have soaked in Acetone for about 2+hrs. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Impaired proof. Very nice. I'm thinking that 'spot' is there to stay, unfortunately.

The spot may have been the reason that this coin was dropped into circulation.

I found LOTS of proof quarters when I worked at an arcade in the 80s. Kids would get a proof set from Grampa for their birthday and bust the coins out so they could play Pacman a few times.

Thanks for the info everyone. Even though it can't be cleaned I will put it aside for now.
