I would like to hear some thoughts on where this coin could grade. It is in a PCI gold border holder. Thanks! Images with lighting glare removed as not useful. -- Staff

Pics do not show surface details well enough for grading.

Looks like a MS 63 PL coin to me. It would help if you remove it from the holder when taking pictures.

A nice strike for 81-O. Looks PL in these photos. I'm a little concerned with the marks above Liberty's cap, but assume those are on the holder. If there is no evidence of cleaning (PL coins often show every imperfection in photos,) I can see this as MS64PL. May go a point higher and garner a +/*. Pretty Morgan.

Newer gold boarder PCI are almost always over graded. This could be PL, can't tell from images. Lots of bag marks as is the norm for the date. I'd say MS-62 PL. PCI grade MS-65PL

MS62 maybe 63. chance of PL. strike is a little weak for an 81(O)

Photos are much too dark to accurately assess the surfaces, but I'd agree with 62-63, possibly PL.
This is a condition scarcity in grades above 63 and also in PL/DMPL. Even early die strikes from fresh prooflike dies still show strike weakness.

I can't see the strike weakness that some have noted. Ear looks fully formed and wheat/cotton features show up nicely. The eagle's breast feathers, talons and legs show decent detail. Wings look good all the way to the rims and wreaths have nice detail. I'd appreciate more info for my benefit as well.

Amazed that anyone would offer an opinion from these pics.

Quote: Amazed that anyone would offer an opinion from these pics. Sometimes when you are throwing out lowball bids on auctions - gambling, or trying to get lucky - you don't have much to go by, so you just use your best judgment along with a healthy margin of error. These are far from the worst pictures I've seen, although they are very dark -- I'll try to clean them up for OP later in Photoshop.

One thing I can see in the photos is the fields do have a lot of chatter, but the coin looks MS.

I'll say MS-62.

I'll tossout a MS64 based on the images provided. Minimal contact marks, good strike and eye appeal. Can't read the luster but at least 63 unless the images hide problems.
