1956 D Wheat Back Error - Coin Community Forum

K2Coin New Member United States 3 Posts	Posted 04/03/2024 10:39 pm Hi. I have a 1956 D mint mark wheat back. It seems to have an error unlike the " L in liberty on rim" error I've seen online, my penny has no "L" at all and the rim is uneven. Has anyone seen this? Or maybe it's just overly worn? Many coins are placed in a bezel type of encasement and used for advertisement or event souvenirs and 'Good Luck' pocket pieces. The problem is that the press that was used to secure the coin in the surround overlapped the edge of your coin and flattened the rim. It's considered Post Mint Damage PMD and not something that would add value to the coin. Coins that are still in the original surround are collectable and, depending on the type you have, can be worth a premium. Here's an image showing several different Encased Coins.
