oih82w8 Pillar of the Community United States 7840 Posts	Posted 04/18/2009 11:57 am I believe that this is called Strike Doubling, notice the flat surfaces on the lower portions of the numerals? ...although it might be Die Deterioration. I have a 1960 Nickle which was classified as such, and the numerals and legends had the shelf-like appearance all around them, not just on one side (mine could be a later stage of deterioration, whilst your could be an earlier stage).
