Sounds like a counterstamped coin. Could be someone's initials.

Some people like to collect them. Here's a little article:

It probably represents Kansas. There was a set of cents that was counter-stamped with states on them. I got Arkansas a few months ago. Pretty neat.

There was a company years ago that did some promotion with them if I recall. All 50 states were available.

Jamez and SJUHawks hit it- there was a bicentennial promotion that involved stamping 1976 cents with all 50 state outlines and selling them as a set. There have been other iterations of this over the years as well with different dates but I believe that 1976 was the first time it was done on a large scale.

1 red cent

of course, that is why you find these things roll hunting or in a dealers junk bin for 5 or 10 cents

10¢ a piece sounds good. I'd gladly pay $5 for a full set of these. That would be neat.

We should see if CCF can get all 50 states.

With my Arkansas and ImTheCrew's Kansas, we're 4% of the way there!

Is there any confirmation that they completed all the states?

One coin dealer in Denver has a complete 50-state collection of these counterstamped Cents, all in the original holder. Hard to value, but a nice curiosity that catches your eye in the case!

A few months ago I found 21 States in a box. With the exception of 1, they are all '75 & '76 dates. All are outlines of the State with the 2 letter abbreviation inside. Probably some one's bi-centennial collection. I figure if I find the rest, I'll stick them on a map.
