Do keep all of the pre-1960 nickels? Most certainly... and, also, of course, all nickels from 2009.

Quote:In my last box CW I found 3 1955 2D 1P is that a find? 1955 is #7 on the low mintage list. No 2024 but 1 2009. 2 War Nickels. The '55-P is a tough find, particularly on the West coast. I actually got completely skunked on 1955-P nickels last year (along with 1945-D and 1950-D)... that was after having a record year for finding them in 2023... the 2024s remain elusive. I found 4 in 2024 (all Ds, no Ps).

Still hunting nickels all this last year, and still no 2024 nickels yet for me... Talk about not a common coin; a modern scarce coin

According to my poll results, more people did not find any than did find them in 2024... so you're actually in good company. I'm really interested in seeing where they actually went. Haven't heard of anyone consistently getting them in any one area, unlike the 2009 coins which were primarily distributed in the Western states (D mint), Puerto Rico and parts of Florida (P mint)...

It appears that we are done with 2024 coin production... Cents and Dimes were well below normal production (though not quite down to 2009 levels), while Nickels indeed broke the 2009 marks, with the lowest mintages since 1959 (Philadelphia) and 1952 (Denver)...

I live in Pa. and did find a pair of the 2024 Jeffersons coin roll hunting. Both were D mint coins.

I received a BU 2024-P nickel and quarter at the grocery store today in change. I asked the cashier if I could buy a roll of nickels, and he sold me one with shiny, BU nickels at each end. What luck!
I got home and opened it, and all were indeed new, brilliant, uncirculated *2023-P* nickels. But hey, at least I got one 2024!

Man, TomM! That would've been quite the score to find a BU roll of 24-Ps... oh well, at least you got the one (which is one more than I have).

Nice, johnsoalris. I've only found two so far, both P. I'm in Kentucky, so I usually get about 75% Philadelphia coins.
Yeah, John77, I was pretty disappointed, but I'm sure I'll find more. I did see a post on another site from a man in Puerto Rico who had found dozens of 2024 nickels in change, and also some solid rolls from a bank. Seems like a repeat of 2009.

This is great information, TomM... and partially explains why they've been so hard to find... Might have to plan a trip to Puerto Rico at some point lol.
