This coin is not a beauty, but the rim is a hot mess. I don't understand why the rim is so massively worse than the rest of the coin. Still learning, guys. What's up with this?

It's a combo of damage ( PMD), zinc rot, and Die Deterioration.

It is different.
I wonder if the rim was abraded away and then the zinc rot started to pit the underlying zinc?

What is the simple explanation ...which I'm sure there is...for the rim looking SOOO much worse? I find that intriguing. Call me crazy.
