I need one of these for my colonial type set (well OK, 1785 we weren't a colony anymore, it literally says USA as the only words on the whole coin ), seller has 3K sales at near 100% and says "Believe this is original, decide for yourself". Looks details/corroded or something but what are the odds its genuine?
It's not genuine. Here's a comparison with an authentic example. The position of USA on the obverse field is wrong, and look at the angle of the bottom serif on the S. And the fact that he's selling it raw is a red flag by itself.
As folks already noted, pretty poor cast; it appears there is even excess material in places. If you are still interested you could ask the seller for some edge images...
I wrote an article on counterfeits of these as well; the ones I show were pretty decent fakes and at least one ended up in a genuine TPG holder.
