Outstanding. I really like the way the older proofs look before they re-did his hair.

Thanks, EV and Seamonkey. Yeah, I like the old design also more. I think when you have a group of the newer 2006 design together, they don't look too bad. But as a singular coin, it's not my favorite. Personally, I would have loved if they took the 2005 obverse design, and then took the classic Monticello reverse design and kept it like that. That would have been way better IMO as I think the 2005 obverse is a pretty cool design, and much more pleasing than the newer ones. Dearborn was nice enough to send me some coins! Thanks, my friend! I also got these today! 2024 P&D and 2025 P. I don't know what the deal is with the 2024 nickels, but from what I gathered, they seemed to be lower mintage? I don't recall ever finding any in circulation. I got these from ebay. The 2024 S proof goes for an insane amount of money compared to the others.

That's nice of Dearborn to supply you with 2 Nickels. Nice additions.
Errers and Varietys.

Very nice nickel collection. I like the contrast of circulated and proofs. My set has circulated only.

Man, that certainly is generous, Dearborn. Wonderful. Quote: Very nice nickel collection. I like the contrast of circulated and proofs. My set has circulated only. Thanks! Many people seem to think that if you opt to do proofs, that you HAVE to do all UNC coins. I'm doing this on a budget, and cannot afford some of the older coins in UNC. Particularly the coins on the first page. The coins from 1938, 39, 40, etc, are not cheap by any means in UNC as far as I know. The key dates, 39-D and 50-D are definitely not cheap in UNC, either. So, until I become a millionaire, which will be never, I'll have to settle for "upgrading" coins in the meantime where I can. I'm good with that. Personally, I like the look of old, worn Jeffersons, particularly from the 30's and 40's.

That helps me a lot because I was thinking of buying upgrades for my nickel album versus keeping the ones I found. I decided to keep the ones I found in circulation. I have added some 70s and 80s mint set coins in the album that I won in auction but I'm satisfied with the majority of coins I have for now.

Glad I could help. Outside of "earlier" issued nickels, like pre-70's, I like both UNC and circulated coins. After that, I would prefer to do UNC for all if I could. The earlier nickels have a noticeably different look and feel to me IMO.

I 'prefer' BU or AU coins in my collection, "IF" the price is reasonable - for example all my Roosevelt dimes are in BU condition as well as my nickels, but my Lincoln Cent and Washington quarters are not (the early ones that is) newer ones are BU but I got them in mint sets that I broke open and placed the coins into my albums.

I just went and had a look at my Nickel Dansco album - all of my nickels in it are either BU and Proof coins.
