1882-S Old ANACS MS-64: What Is Going On With The Eye?

Hello Everyone, I hope that your evening is going well... here is an 1882-S MSD in an old ANACS holder. Does anyone know what's going-on with Liberty's eye? The upper eyelid seems to be die-broken, while on the lower lid is, I have no idea. Any thoughts are much appreciated!

The lower eyelid has Reed Marks, so the upper eyelid is probably also a hit.

Hondo: Thank You... I just bought it in tonite's HA sale, so I don't have it in hand yet. I didn't think it was a bag mark, but maybe a strike through. Too much light there from the scanner to be sure. The upper eyelid is weird; it looks like it has striae

I'm thinking that it's Reed Marks. Still a great looking Morgan dollar.

Errers: My Uncle bought a bag of these from the Treasury Dept. in D.C. on March 24th, 1964; the Kennedy half was released that day as well. All the toned coins in the bag looked like this one, to varying degrees. No Rainbows, many semi- and PL coins, but true DMPLs? Only a couple of them.

Yeah, it sure does look like Reed Marks. And a well placed hit with some metal movement on the upper.

I thought that the design on the eye was possibly a strike-through like this one, but the impact marks are there for a weird bagmark

I agree, damage of some sort, nice looking coin though.

Run through the link I'm providing and maybe find the VAM. Your mm is left and high, looks to be a few that coincide, maybe you can find other markers to nail it down.
