I came across this Buffalo nickel and I am unsure if its a true mint error or if its a post mint. thoughts?

Likely Post Mint damage as the Reverse looks to have be touched with a grinder and the Obverse seems like solder.

Definitely Post Mint Damage.
There is no way for that to happen when the coin was struck.

Well shoot; I was hoping it sort of snuck its way out like that to be honest - I may keep it in my "oddities " section though.

I honestly wonder how it got that way though. If coins could talk! So wacky.

To escape being fooled by simple damage, a person need, at a minimum, to know the minting and die making processes. :D

@Dashing99 - - Looks like grinder damage on reverse. Corrosion/staing plus other damage to obverse.
