Hi Yall!

I have a 1948 D half dollar that I believe has doubling on the reverse. I have seen there are DDO's but not a lot of information about DDR's. There id also some reference to working hub doubling, but again they don't seem to be the same thing as I'm seeing.
Looking for your thoughts on this. Thanks
ps. my coin microscope is dying so pics aren't great.

I don't see a Doubled Die, I see some Die Deterioration Doubling
and a bit of Machine Doubling. You can't have a Doubled Die on the
mint mark as it is hand punched.

Anytime you think you have a doubled die., go to varietyvista.com and find an EXACT match (DDOs and DDRS alike). If you do not find an EXACT match (every picture per entry shown must match), then you have a non-collectible form of cdoubling like Machine Doubling or Die Deterioration Doubling.

thanks for your reply.

@earle42 so you are saying that all double dies have been discovered and theres no reason to keep looking for new discoveries?
It seems to me that your evaluation would mean theres no reason for cherrypicking to exist? Am I understanding you correctly?
Also do go to both VV & wexler's websites.

I think with the reasonably priced microscopes which are now available to the "common" man of course new discoveries may be out there.

Maybe this statement of yours is why Earle42 directed you to variety vista.

I'm no good at spotting DDO's/ddr's (especially from photos) and super tired from work today, so I won't common as far as that goes other than best of luck either on this coin or future ones....
