As of this posting, silver spot is at $53.39. I just checked with one of my bullion dealers about the presale price of a 2026 silver eagle. They have it listed as $65.43 or in other words, at roughly $12 over spot. This may be my last year of paying ridiculous premiums for these coins. Think I'll return to the classics instead.

...buying bullion from a dealer will likely always include premiums over spot, &, dealer costs considered, the more overhead a dealer has the more the premium ... brick & mortar rent / mortgage, shipping & handling costs, etc. ...

...secondary sellers with website listings (eBay, Etsy, & the like...) also have listing & selling fees (added costs) ... thus expect a premium ...

...a better way to buy bullion is to advertise on no-cost sites such as craigslist, Facebook, etc., & compete with local dealer/buyer's offers based on "spot", buying from individuals ...

...the trade-off here is #1...security ...yours & the seller's, & #2 ... counterfeits ... can you spot them ? ...

... the same basic considerations apply to selling your bullion ... your best prices will most likely (but not always) come from an individual, non-professional buyer ...

the advantage / disadvantage factors seem to favor pros, as availability is greater, & inventory is greater ...

...I believe, because of the "premium factor", that investing in bullion is best considered for the "long haul" ...

...hope any of this info helps ...

Current year Eagles have always had a premium above back dates. Thin supply and strong demand allow them to charge more.

Then don't buy - there are "Specials" out there when spot is actually at ZERO premium.

I just checked with one of my bullion dealers

A sample size of 1 is not enough data. APMEX has 2026 ASE pre-orders for $62.77.

That price might seem cheap in a couple of weeks.

The day is coming when there won't be any for sale at your local dealer. At that point price won't matter much. Get what you want now and then sit back and watch the show.

This does not bode well for the all the US Mint products I will want to buy next year.

I can consider doing that, but then I run the risk of settling for rejects. At least with the Mint I have a return window for bad product. That is my value added from the higher prices.

This is my concern. I was hoping to get the gold 1804 dollar. That's a $5 - $6K coin at this point. Silver coins / medals will be $150.

I said in another post that my $185 set in 2023 looks like a bargain.

It's going to get too expensive for the average person to collect silver coins in the not too distant future, just like gold. Copper and c/n will be the future for those that want to collect coins.
