Thanks Fortcollins - I cooked up a nice chicken soup using chicken thighs (bone-in during the boil) then once the meat fell off the bone, it was all strained and separated. I set aside the meat while I added cut up carrots and sweet potatoes to the broth and boiled until they were soft, then tossed in the shredded meat. I let that cool before chilling in the fridge. I made enough to last at least 2 weeks, so I'll be freezing a lot of it for future use if it don't get used up. Heck, This can be eaten by me if I run out of food in the house But, I think she is over the worst of it now - she ate dinner like her ole self. that huge Bm she had probably did the trick. and the 8 hour IV solution she got was the key to loosening everything up I think. Now I just need to be gentle with here and let her heal up at her speed. In addition, the IV's that were in her legs must have been painful because she is limping on one front leg that had the IV in (she had pulled it out and the Vet had to reinsert it so she got punctured twice in that leg (but only once in the other leg) So in short, everyone's prayers and comments really help here and I thank you all..

Thanks Jon, I appreciate your comments - they mean a lot to me. (I think I'll bring in Hard and read it to her) She is back to normal and going just great - she is limping a bit on her right front leg possibly from the multiple IV sticks. She wants to play ball I throw she runs and goes to get it and bring it back, but with the limping, I'm not doing that - need to let that leg rest and heal.

Good news that it looks like she is back to normal. I hope she is near the end of the healing process.
Take a look at my other hobby ... http://www.jk-dk.art

Dearborn I am so sorry. My daughter's Shepard had the same problems. He was there one day running and three days later no energy and lose weight went to vet and he went fast. We found out shepherds are prone to Chronic Kidney Disease. We never knew because he went fast.Hopefully you got your Shepard to the vet fast enough. At least eating which is good and looks like getting better. Hope to see pictures of your buddy running around soon.Wish your dog the best. Looks like the Shepard we had. We had three of them because my wife loves the breed. Good luck and let us know how everything goes. Looks happy.

sorry to hear about your family's shepherd's issues Saturn. My Hardy is doing just great now, her blood work we did shows no sign of any liver, kidney abnormalities - so that is great news for her. I'll try to get some images of her running around but that is difficult as I'm the only one her to toss a ball and capture the video - but I'll try.
Edit to add: I tried to get a video of her running, but her left front leg hurts her and all you would have seen was her limping back to me.
I'll be scheduling another Vet visit to have her leg checked out.

Well the Vet didn't find anything wrong with the arm (leg) - I'll just have to let her heal up on her own, which means no ball play until then, but we do take early morning walks for a short distence to keep her mobile. Here is a nice picture of her staring at me as I eat dinner

Just saw all of this to day and so glad for the happy outcome. I was fearful when I started reading. So very hard to lose a cherished pet and so very happy for you that this turned out with her back to normal!

Thanks JB, Earl and Greasy I work very hard to get her back from the brink - it was touch and go on about day 4, but the IV fluids she took did the job hugely. I'm happy, she id VERY happy now. Now I need to let her front leg heal up - I think I know what happened to it - on day 3 I was taking he to the vet, and I had been helping her get in and out of my truck - when I opened the door to get her, she started getting out on her own, but she was weak and fell out as I tried to catch her. she landed hard on her front legs and it actually strained my back as well - but I think the fall injured her - so it will take time to get better. I have her on an easy exercise plan to help, short walks and minimal running. I also massage her leg to keep the muscles strong. so I guess she is getting some PT during her recouperation time. and Yes Greasy, I still have Laurel too

update my my Hardy (the dog) She is back to normal now, no more limping - and I have her on Gabapentin to help with the pain and mending - just so happens that I'm on the same med, so I'm sharing mine with her, much cheaper that way.
