I got £3 worth of pennies at the bank. Didn't get a single 2015 coin though.
Probably have to wait until later in the year.

Last year I actually received a 2014 isle of man £1 coin (Same design as above) BEFORE I got a regular circulation one. (In fact I got 3 IOM ones) lol

The plug doesn't appear to be firmly seated in the ring, either.
In San Antonio, Texas, someone gave me a handful of change including not one but two Guernsey 5p pieces.

Earliest example like that with the correct colours I could find reported was by RED in the Fake £1 thread on 16/3/14. I have heard the alloys are very close to the real thing and can fool machines with varying success.
I.e. they had got there before Osborne's announcement of the new £1 coin when he declared "It's vital that we stay several paces ahead of the criminals"!
The Coin-Mech company claim to have found the earlier version with the pinkish centre by summer 2013, reported at least twice subsequently on this forum.
All seem to derive from one master die for each side and for the edge motto, though motto letters have sometimes had more calligraphic looking imprint. All 2011, but both faces differ considerably on the 'personalised 2011 £2' discussed in own thread though its Queen's head came from same master engraving.
I'd like to know: concerning the fake £1 permutations with re-engraved dies and irregular edge engravings, some of which have that same imitation Queen's head, is there anything to indicate whether they were still being made recently and concurrently with the re-engraved die fake £2?

Interesting, tenbobbit! I've never had a fake two pound coin. But I got a bag of twenty one-pound coins from the bank today and found this 1995 fake. It took me in at first: the colour is right, and the wear is similar to a real pound coin of that date. What gave it away was the DECUS ET TUTAMEN edge. The obverse and reverse are also not quite correctly aligned.

Fake £2 are still quite elusive for me... I still only have the 5 (I know my site STILL only has 4... dunno how that happened) The 5th is the from the same production as the 4th but it better coloured and the center is near perfectly fitted. Both of which match yours above Tenbob, although yours appears to have a die crack/chunk in the cogs at 7:30-9 whereas mine has marks pertaining to damage in the area, but not as drastic. I am actually trying to put an order in some 'hot off the press' fake £2's (Yep, you read that right, I'm attempting to order a few test pieces direct from the manufacturers in China... They've got all 4 2015 Designs available to buy !!)

My old lady found another one yesterday but forgot to give it to me until this morning. the new one is very similar although less rough than the earlier ones. Here's my group of 6 all together. (Not the best pics I know) Also came across this one today.... Not entirely sure what I'm looking at, Specs, font, alignment, quality everything matches, but there's some mushing of the hologram in the center and the majority of the bottom part of the cupro-nickel disc is smudged.

Hi RED That certainly " looks " like a wrong un, its the edge that's bothering me the most. something seems wrong to my eye, I'm seeing a double strike or ghosts of letters between the stamped ones. Certainly odd. In less than a month I have found 2 x £2 & 3 x £1, how crazy is that ? I think I may also have found a 1988 shield fake for you RED, give me 10 mins and I will do some pics for you.

RED, the last is an error something, but I can't see anything to suggest other than Royal Mint origin. That's a very fine collection of others, but don't your two last posts imply you have a third 2011 or pictures of?

Hmm... I never noticed the ghosting of the letters in the motto... will have to try and get a closer look !! It's certainly odd... but it does look too good to be a fake.
MoralC - There was only 4 £2 coins listed on my site, the 2011 in my last post has been in my collection for a while now but hasn't been uploaded or posted (Unless I posted it here a while back?). The newest coin is the 1998 monstrosity I'm surprised was still circulating (Which seems the same as the first coin.. will compare later.)
TenBob - Yeah I think it's just had a hard paper round. I'm waiting on a fake pound coin expert to get back to me (I hope he will) on what to look out for, (Hopefully with some pics) as he has four 1988 fake coins (Separated into 2 types)
I think Moral is familiar with Willings ? That's who I've contacted and while on the subject of Willings (Andy Brown) am I right in deciphering his inscriptions as
E = Decus Et Tutamen S = Nemo Me Impune Lacessit W = Pleidiol Wyf I'm Gwlad P = Pathways B = Blank

@tenbobbit. Main error I can see is the kink in the edge letter U but I think that's just collar die trauma. As you may know, one of the commoner fake Third Portrait series has slanting latin motto letters but the final E is squarer and dumpier and the top of the M seems to have no serifs unlike yours. Esp. noticeable in that series is the DECUS U usually (originally?) squarer than it should be. E.g. RED this is one: https://www.flickr.com/photos/fakeq...650737782111@RED, that's what I assumed they meant and that E+S are the "DECUS LACESS(IT) TUTAMEN".

Many thanks for the info RED & Moral Here it is next to another 88 £1, the one on our right is the other 1. Coin on left weight 9.41g Coin on our right weight - 9.45g Does the weight discrepancy fall into an acceptable range ? Sorry if this has been answered before but I am just a sponge at the moment.
