Quote: 2016 dated 12 sided pound coins should be released next March. Why do you think the coins will be dated ''2016?'' Don't you think it is possible that the coins will have the date ''2017'' on them even though they (or most of them) have likely been minted in 2016? By the way, what design has the £1 coin in The Royal Mint 2016 unc mint set? Shield?

Everyone seems to be doing better than me :( maybe I need to handle more change.... The 2016 £1 has a unique design with the animals for each part of the UK, (Dragon, lion, unicorn and crown jumbled up design)

Today's haul - I got my first 2016 Britannia £2 coin and my first Peter Rabbit and Mrs Tiggywinkle 50p's, among £40 of each denomination that I got from the bank!

Quote: Everyone seems to be doing better than me :( maybe I need to handle more change.... Here in the frozen North, that seems to be my problem, too, though as a Treasurer of two small clubs at least £40 passes through my hands each week. I've found only the 2016 10p and the Peter Rabbit 50p. However, I did get a Uganda 2008 500 shillings in my change, it's slightly smaller than a £1 coin; unfortunately I used it in a supermarket trolley and forgot I had done so.

Since my local branch closed in July, I now have to use HSBC branches at two local towns. Town A is a rather down-at-heel seaside resort with relatively high unemployment and a high proportion of senior citizens living in retirement apartments. Town B is a bustling, modern town on the fringes of the London commuter zone, with a mainline train station, several bright new shopping malls and high employment. It's interesting to note that all the 2016-dated coins were found in bags from the bank in Town B!

Just got this 2015 Gibraltar £1 in change from the self-service till in my local supermarket. Like most Gibraltar pound coins I've seen, it's got quite a few dings already!
