Got home from the NSRA Hotrod Show this past weekend and unloaded my bag I had brought some coins to the show, (Some of the HotRodders and Security Staff are into coins) And put the coins on the desk, fired up the computer to see what was going on. And ran into Chuckster's update from Dr.Wiles about his 1971-D FEV DDO-001 Just happen to have one of my FEV's on the desk from the weekend and grabbed a loupe and low and behold below are shots of what I saw. Thank You Chuck for bringing this variety to my attention. Much later die state than Chuck's I will have to try to spend some more time with the loupe on the reverse, with the late die state hard to tell if it is also a DDR

For what it's worth, I went through a canvas bag of Ikes tonight. This is one of the bags I mentioned before that were found in the recesses of some vault that supplies my bank. I did not separate the coins by mints/varieties (I don't know enough to separate the varieties even if I wanted to do so), but here is the date distribution:
1971: 153 1972: 257 1973: 2 1974: 104 1976: 360 clad + 1 1976-S silver 1977: 85 1978: 38

bnacoin: I'll try and help you out as best as I can, but I'm far from an expert on Ike's! First thing I would do is separate all the dates by Mint marks etc. 1971P, 1971D etc. Second- separate all 1971D & 1972P from all of the other Ike's as these 2 dates contain the rare 1971D FEV(Friendly Eagle Variety) and the 1972P Type 2 High Relief Reverse (Proof Reverse struck on business circulated Ike's). Next, check all 1974D, 1976D-Type 2, and 1977D- These dates had some coins that were struck on 40% Silver/clad Planchets by error! They will weigh 24.59 Grams as opposed to the normal 22.68 Grams copper clad. Extremely Valuable- worth in the thousands of dollars! Join the forum at https://www.theikegroup.org and use that site as a ready reference to help identify the Ike's you have. There are way too many different varieties, Peg Legs, Die Clashes, DDO's/DDR's/ RPM's etc for me to list here at the CCF. It can be quite overwhelming to say the least! *I would also suggest, since you have a substantial amount of Ike's, that you buy John Wexler's/ Billy Crawford/ Kevin Flyn " An Authoritative Reference on Eisenhower dollars (2nd Edition, 2007) Good luck and I hope you have some valuable Ike's! Chuck.

Latest "Bag Find" I found this real nice 1972P Type 2 High Relief "August Release" It has the die dot in the 0 of Dollar and die scratches between the E/P of Pluribus- die markers for the August Release. *Also found a 73S Clad proof and a 78D Peg Leg. The 78D Peg leg is in real bad shape-banged up/ lots of scratches, nixes etc. not bothering to post pics of these 2 coins.* Die marker- Dot in 0 of Dollar Die Marker- die scratches between E/P of E Pluribus

For what it's worth, the count from two more bags of Ikes:
Bag 1: 1971: 246 + 1 silver 1971-S 1972: 262 1973: 0 1974: 73 1976: 278 1977: 55 1978: 93 Total of 1008 Ikes. Also one 2004 nickel. So a $8.05 profit.
Bag 2: 1971: 259 1972: 238 1973: 0 1974: 81 1976: 322 1977: 34 1978: 66

Chuck, Big Congratulations on the 72 Type 2 That baby looks nice and clean Very hard to find them like that in the bags. bnacoin, Congratulations on getting you hands on those huge bags. If you are into hunting varieties then you have a jackpot there. There are a fair number of varieties in the Eisenhower dollarseries. Both major and minor Like chuck mentioned above. Terry

Thanks Terry! When you get a chance, can you post a pic of your 71D FEV DDO / DDR Reverse? especially by the 2 l's of dollar? I'd love to see the doubling! Can you make out any part of the shuttle? Chuck.

Chuck, Finally was able to get some batteries and shoot the reverse. As far as the re-entry vehicle being visible on mine It is not. Mine is a much later die state than yours as you can tell by the LL of dollar it was a real animal to get the coin in the right light to show the doubling with the camera. Here is a link to the whole album so you can see them full size http://s485.photobucket.com/albums/...V%20DDO-001/Terry

Latest pick-up! Just came in the mail today. A 1971D PCGS MS-63 FEV! I spotted this coin up for bid on E-Bay last week. It was not listed as a RDV-006 on the slab! I picked up on the 2 overflow lines between the N & E of One , the chain of islands and the round Earth. You can also see the space shuttle. I won it for $19.50 plus $2.00 S & H Total $21.50 What die stage?
