finally got home and started going through the box. put the mystery roll aside to see if there were any more...nope. surprise-surprise, it's a 64D. that makes 9 silvers in 6 boxes. i'll try to grab another box tomorrow. (later today, technically)

I need to pick up a box just to fill up my dansco. I figure I can cash in whatever is leftover to buy most of the silver dimes I need.

Just did my first box of dimes.

3 Silver Dimes- a 49S, 60P and 61D

* 1- 2009P.

I usuually do only boxes of halves, so what's a good average find per box of dimes?

i average 1.5 silvers per box. had one with 4, one with zero. If you can pull 1 per box, you'll be fine.

I average around 1-2 a box as well. My best is 6 and my worst is 1. 3 is a good box.

My average the last 3 years has been about 1.7 per box. Mercs show themselves about once every 7-8 boxes.

Got my first skunk too. Only thing interesting in the box was a 5 pence coin. Halves come in tomorrow - maybe I'll have better luck with those.

FISTFULLADIRT! You finally joined this forum! I found my first Mercury dime a few weeks ago, a 1927 in Good-4/About Good-3 condition. Glad to see you're on here with us, buddy! - your friend, coincrazed

picked up $80 in customer wrapped today. pulled a 1971 Swiss 1/2 Franc, and a '64 Roosie. So now that I picked up less than a box, i'll have to breakdown my finds into rolls. that makes 10 silvers in 316 rolls.

Usually search halves and nickels but on occassion have searched dimes. My silver find rate is about the same as what others have reported, roughly 1 per box. Does anyone look at each dime? If so, what else are you looking for other than silver? (I know possibly proofs but those can usually be spotted by their rims). Usually I look through the clear wrap and if I don't see silver, I won't bother to open the roll.
