Indeed....some brown coins seem to darken a hair with VC. I don't see it everytime, but once in awhile the coin really improves and looks more natural.

How can one become a tester for this product. I have a nice supply of Pre- Modern US coins. Wheats to Presidential dollars, Ranging from Black to 70's. I would enjoy testing your product on every denomination. I dont think every grade would be needed but I do see it working best on AU - MS. Will this devalue the coin in anyway. If used properly. Say I use it on the bags of National Park Quarters I have. I know some of you jokesters out there are biting at the bit at this one. Of course I mean the Quarters in the Bags. And not the bags themselves. But that would be pretty funny wouldn't it. If I posted a pic of Bag before treatment and then after. LOL Would you be supplying testers with product. Or try on your own and post results. Either way I'm in. Wont be able to pick a bottle up until 15th. Thanks For your time. Anthony

"This coin was pretty nice to start. I probably would not have applied it to this coin as a collector, but it's just another experiment"
When you say I wouldn't of applied it to this coin as a collector what did you mean by that. Are some coins just better off not having Verti Care applied to them. I was thinking all my coins should be protected by Verti Care. Or should the ones that show no sign of the nasty V. be left alone.

What are your thoughts about the PCGS sniffer included with the secure plus service?

Whats the longest you've ever soaked? Will long term exposure do anything to harm the coin?

WOW! Sorry....I have neglected this thread! I have not seen in a long time. LOL
OK, let's answer some questions!
1924-D - Came back as questionable color, no fault of VC, oh well....still a nice coin. Buffalo 3-leg came back as "scratched" from PCGS, no mention of "cleaning". Those are the only two VC coins I've submitted. Eventually, I'll submit a better candidate with no "questionable color" and no damage so I can see if they detect a VC conservation.
amassey08873 - Beta tested ended long, long ago. The product is now commercial. VC is intended for problem coins and that's it. There's no point it using on a coin that doesn't have corrosion. However, on brown coins it can enhance the appearence....but I don't recommend it for that.
PCGS "sniffer" - They are using an EDXRF with imaging, it will not be able to detect VC. However, I recommend rinsing the upper layer off with water, then acetone before submission because a skilled grader will mistake the coin as being oiled, which will get it rejected.
Shavill - I have soaked a BU coin for 2 weeks with no ill effect. However, I don't recommend soaking longer than 24 hours. This was more of an extreme test I used during development.

Just read through this thread albeit the topic id no somewhat dated, but had a quick follow-up question.
BT, were you ever to confirm that a VC treated coin was deemed acceptable from a professional grading organization on any restored coins. I know it was a topic of some discussion, but the thread did not continue to update any new information.
I have an 1838 large cent which was returned "genuine" due to it's dark obverse. I'm unsure whether this product might be able to do something with this coin, but am paranoid of doing some form of damage.

I have not submitted any conserved coins for grading other than the 24-D. I make no claims whether or not a coin will grade after being conserved. If anyone chooses to submit a conserved coin, they're on their own.
VC will not clean nor lighten a dark coin, it is not at all designed to do that. It will not damage a coin due to it's gentle nature, so there's no reason to be paranoid about using the product. However, from the sound of it, VC will do your coin no good.

I've played around a bit more with VERDI-TONE, but I'm getting tired of working on it and I just haven't had time. For now, the product is on hold.

Suppose I have a coin with a light bit of verdigris on in in an airtight. If I take it out of VC it, can I put it back into the same airtight with no ill effects, or should I get a new airtight for it to try to prevent recontamination?

halfdollar verdi needs metal to grow so under normal conditions it should not grow in plastic. having said that I have seen verdi grow in airtite plastic as well.
