Unfortunately I think someone is about to spend 50 bucks on a chemically altered note. And it looks like the seller is simply unaware.

When I read the title I thought it must just be confusing a North African (1934)as a gold seal instead of yellow seal (see it all the time), but no, it's a '28. I really think she has no clue. I think I should probably send the seller a message about what she really has. Her feedback and other auctions don't indicate a shyster.

Thoughts?

Sending her a message can't hurt.

I just sent a message. Adam is right, you can see some red peeking out. I feel bad for the buyer - hopefully, my message would help

Well, shortly afterwards I did send a message to the seller indicating I believe the note to be chemically altered, that it's a known alteration, that they appear on ebay, and didn't want her to have a problem from not knowing about this. I also sent a link to an ebay guide showing altered $2 and $5 notes (fake yellow seals).

I received this reply back:

I had this note checked out to see if it had been altered or had the red somehow faded and was told neither had happened. Don't know what it is how it came about but I think it's just different.

Thanks, Leslie

My job is done.

The alterations were horribly done. Can you say Clorox?
