Had a little chat with a tame teller at my favorite dump bank (where they actually encourage me to bring coin in for the commercial customers-they have a counter machine). I asked about rolls of shield cents, and she told me they had sent the Fed in Little Rock the grand total of $300 worth for the entire state. I've actually managed to harvest three from circulation (two fresh from the roll)so far.

I suspect these are going to be thin on the ground for some time.

And that is information that no typical teller would know with any certainty. It also doesn't hold water. There is no Federal Reserve Bank in Little Rock, although there might be a branch bank. And if there was a branch bank, would it be supplying the whole state? And the only people who would know how many the branch bank got would be some but not all of the branch bank employees. And they would have no reason to past that information to the tellers of the various banks.

OK, for your information, the person I was talking to is the head teller for the main branch of ARVEST here in NW Arkansas, which is a pretty good sized bank. The main branch goes out of their way just a bit to cater to us coin geeks. There is a federal branch bank in Little Rock, it's a branch of district 8, St Louis. It very likely does service the whole state for new coinage; the other nearest branch of the Fed is in Kansas City.
And she knows because she called and asked about getting some, and they explained that they couldn't because they'd only received that limited amount.
Look, this is Arkansas, not the northeast. Folks chat about things here, even on business calls. There's a lot of state but not too many folks overall.
And you can lose your "I'm calling BS" tone, mac. Not appreciated, especially since all of your information was speculation on your part. You weren't even sure if there was a branch bank in LR (which the folks up here call "the Fed in Little Rock") so that's a safe bet.

Why in the world does Texas get so many recently minted coins? Some of the first 2009 nickels and dimes, not from PR, were found in Texas.

Have found four boxes and 30 loose rolls of the 2010P's last month. Sold three boxes so far on ebay for almost 2X face.

I hand sort rolls also and have found well over 100 of them in my rolls. So common now I just toss them back.
