I bouht this Gold 6000 Baht Thailand coin some time ago and now there appear to be rust marks forming. Does it mean that it is not gold or is there a safe way to remove them.
That problem is known for some German 100 euro coins. These ones are .999 gold. I have read about it some years ago. It had created a big polemic in Germany. As far as I remember it is some silver dust that remained on the die. This microscopic silver oxidates with the air and the result is what you can see. It is certainly not a quality but is is no proof the coin isn't gold.
I have found an old topic in a German forum. Yes it is silver and it is a problem that appeared on coins minted in Germany. Do you know where this one has been minted?
Unfortunately, I did not find any cure to that. The problem appeared mainly on coins minted between 2002 and 2004. It seems the mint has replaced the coins at that time.
